Evan's Unfortunate Visit to Peterson & Smith
    Equine Hospital

    5/12/04

    (pending)

My colt Evan decided to eat 12 ounces (at LEAST) of dirt which earned him a trip to Peterson & Smith a very reputable Equine Hospital.

He's doing much better and has passed all the sand and will be coming home Monday!

    Yippee!

What I forgot to put back on here, was that Evan crashed and burned hard on Tuesday after just coming home on that Monday.
Even collapsed Wednesday morning, and I literally picked all 141Lbs of him in to the trailer, and raced back to the hospital.
My little boy ended up having an ascending infection of the liver from the bacteria build up from "possibly" eating the sand.
After a week of loads of diagnostics and different antibiotics, Evan quickly recovered, and for the first time in his 5 weeks, passed poop on his own. Through everything, his first time Mother, Ginger, was amazing. Such a good mare.
It didn't take him long to get back to playing "tag" with his "other Mom". And he LOVES when I take his head and put it in my lap when he's sleeping, and rub his duck shaped blaze. :)

He's 4 months old now and growing in to such a handsome stallion prospect.
