Farewell to a best friend....
Miste's Fantasia ("MICKEY")
March 1986-September 2002
You were my first best friend. You know so much about me...more than anyone ever could or will.
You were privy to all my childhood secrets...even who my first crush was. ;o)
You consoled me through hard times...celebrated with me during joyous times, and tolerated me during my selfish times when I seemed to not notice you.
But you were always there for me like no one ever could be. My best friend...forever.
I always hoped with your strong character and enduring pride, fate would let you go gracefully on your own. Just slip away quietly and with the dignity you always possessed. It was a knife in my heart to see my best friend suffer.
I will always be grateful to you for seeing me through 16 years of my life, but I know the anguish I feel now, is nothing to what you were silently enduring.
With a forlorn heart, I lay my head on yours...hiding the agony in my eyes, drawing on the strength you always had. I held you tight and said "I'm sorry" while I felt your breaths begin to wane. I held you tight while faded to a halt. I felt you cross over....I felt you find peace. I drew on your peace to help me find my own as well while I said "good bye...I love you always."
I'll see you someday...and I know you'll be waiting like always...with a happy little dance, you always greeted me with I know we'll "happy dance" together like we used to again.
Thank you Mickey....I miss you.
Mickey & I yearrrrrs ago. I think Mickey was still under a year old in this photo, as I was about 10.
This was taken Christmas time 2001.
This was taken about 1999 with Miss Kitty...can you see her?
I'll be posting more when I dig out the Photo boxed I had packed away for the move.
Rainbow Bridge Poem
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.
His bright eyes are intent; his eager body quivers.
Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then, you cross the Rainbow Bridge together.
