I've been riding horses all my life, and started out running barrels actually. Then my Mom made the best "Mom" choice of my life, and said "if you're going to ride, you're going to ride like a lady. *L* So I started my Hunter lessons and did that for about 6 months before becoming too bored of the monotonous courses. Then I switched to the fast paced go for broke excitement of Stadium Jumping. Of course, that didn't last long once I bumped into one of the most wonderful trainers I've been lucky to have, Hilda Hick (Apopka, Fl.) who introduced me to the bold, exciting world of Eventing. Cross country jumping was just up my 15 year old "invisible" alley, and spent 7 wonderful, lucky years competing in it. During that time, I realized that Dressage was actually a huge factor in the Combined Training, and starting taking extra lessons with another coach who had a wonderful impact on my life, Nancy M. Smith. And I never realized until then just the difference between "Combined Training Dressage" and "Dressage". I had a great CT rain, and in '93 was won the Prestigious "USCTA Area III Rider of the Year" award. I didn't realize what that meant at the time, but do you know I won this over past Olympians? I was FLOORED.
However, during that time, I was getting drawn more and more into a new challenging, beautiful world....Dressage.
I have been fortunate to have had and trained quite a few lovely horses, who helped me to attain several USDF Regional Championships and even placed 4th out of the Nation as well. :o)
I feel very fortunate to have had such a wonderful time with my horses and coaches.
I have 6 AHHA Championship Titles & 2 Reserves in CT.
I also have an extensive background in
Western disciplines as well. I Qualified for the World Championship Appaloosa show in Ft. Worth, Texas 2 x with Aztec, won Most Versatile Appaloosa 4 x, won 152 High Points, & 22 Reserve High Points.
