New Comer



New Comers are new to the equine world. The  New Comer Program starts with basic and proper introduction to horses. 
New Comer sessions are approximately 30 minutes in length & since significant time is spent in preparing the horse you are asked to show up 15 minutes ahead of scheduled session. A full 24 hour notice of any cancellation is requested.

Part I of the New Comer Program:
· Learning how to properly touch, talk, halter, lead, & groom a horse.
· Observing Instructor properly tack a horse.
· Properly mounting with assistance.
· Learning the basics of properly asking a horse to go, stop, & turn while on a lunge line with Instructor  in control of the horse and situation.
· Learning the proper way to cool a horse out.


Part 2 of the New  Comer Program:
· Learning how to properly tack up a horse with assistance.
· Learning how to properly mount a horse with a mounting block and assistance.
· Learning the basics of properly asking a horse to go, stop, & turn without Instructor's assistance.
· Learning to properly cool a horse out.


Part 3 of the New Comer Program: (In addition to the above)
· Begin using New Comer Balance Exorcises. (1/2 seat, Jumping Position, Air Plane Arms, Arm Stretches, ankle circles, & Leg Extensions.
· Start learning to trot on a Lunge Line.
· Learn and be able to name 4 Equine body parts. (Equine Anatomy Chart included in Lesson Package folder)

 

Moving on to the Beginner Program depends on how well the New Comer can perform all of the above and on the New Comer's comfort level. MGRH will never push a rider beyond their comfort level, therefore there are no Packages offered at the New Comer level.
