    Hope's delivery wasn't as text book as you'd like, but both are doing very well now. Hope starting progressing like a freight train heading down hill. She was fine all day, no signs other than wanting to be IN the barn ALL day. Dad and I started working on stalls so Hope could get in to the foaling stall, and Hope staid close by while we did. We finished up just before dark, got her situated and fed everyone. Glanced her over…no signifigant changes. No wax. I was chatting online watching Hope and at about 8:30, & decided I should check her. (pacing, licking lips, yawning, kicking belly, pooping and peeing a lot…definite signs.) Sure enough…GOBS of white wax on her teats, veins popped out and starting to sweat. Her water broke and bubble popped out about 10 minutes after I got her tail braided and wrapped. After about 5 minutes, one foot showed so I went in to check for the other. It was where it should be…but HUGE. I thought for a split second her fetlock was her knee. Yipes…BIG baby. At 10 minutes, even though I had both feet present and baby's nose, I called the vet. She was stretching Hope out too much, so he was talking me through an opesiotomy. However, Hope laid back down with her butt too close to the wall, so we couldn't get to her, so we assisted the birth as best we could…eventually Dad had to take over for more strength. THANKS DAD!!!! J Hope does have some pretty bad tears which we'll be repairing this weekend when the adema goes down, but she's IN LOVE with her daughter and LOVES being a Mom. She's being SUCH a good girl. Lets me in there and even handled the vet check VERY well. Baby's name is Serendipity (Sara). She's VERY big. Just GORGEOUS. Light/gold bay with a star and "shooting star" (that's the name my Vet gave her spot above the nostrils. ;) ), two hind socks, very LONG straight legs…just beautifully put together.
    So far her favorite activities are:
  • Nursing
  • Nursing Again
  • Sleeping.
  • Nursing Again.
  • Running as fast as her legs can go.
  • Nursing again.
  • Bucking and bouncing around the stall.

  • A star just like Mamma's.

  • Pretty Warmblood looking head, long slender neck, short back, and straight, VERY long legs
